Good Morning…shhhh

My throat hurts really bad this morning, so I’ve had to whisper to my kids. It’s hilarious. Sage has asked “what?” maybe 100 times, and Jaxon doesn’t seem to notice that I’m not responding to any of the million of stories he tells me in a morning. I don’t know that I’d survive long without a voice with my two noisy kids!

And here’s some fun little videos. The first is for Aunt Heather. Hopefully you’ll get your package soon, and you can see that it was packed with love from the little ones, the 2nd one was after we got our webcam and were trying out all the fun voice changing features. I’ve seen it so many times, and I laugh every time. :)

Hum, I need to post

Remember how I’m supposed to post a lot?  It’s harder than I thought it would be.  So in news today, my TV broke last night, and already we found a replacement!  And here I thought I was going to go without for awhile.  Whatever,  I need my nightly escape!

I guess I’ll post about a fun time we had this summer.  When we went to Snohomish to visit Nana and Papa, Joe took us salmon fishing.  So, being the kind, supportive, and loving wife and mother that I am I woke up too early, bundled the little ones, and was off.  We had a good time, and since I didn’t do much fishing, I took a lot of pictures.  I’ll share a few.

“Mom, get me out of here!!!041

After I took this picture of Jake he promptly chased me with the dead grossness.  YUCK!

As much as a love fall, I guess I do kind of miss summer.

Some updates

My sister Heather is in Africa right now.  She’s totally awesome!  So I’m going to be a better blogger for her! :)  Here’s to 3-4 posts a week!

Jaxon’s 1st ever field trip.

When I woke up and it was pouring rain, my willingness to volunteer for Jaxon’s pumpkin patch field trip seemed very foolish.  But how could I miss such a fun day for my little guy, so we all got bundled up, and make our way out into the Oregon rain.  It turned out to be not as bad as I thought it would, which was nice.   Overall it was a fun morning!

We got this in the mail the other day.  I must say, it was pretty excited for me to see Dr. in front of my hubby’s name.  Can’t wait for June!!!022

Decorating Pumpkins.  I love this tradition.  Sure it’s messy, but it’s such a fun unique thing that you only get to do once a year.  I just love it.  And so do the kiddos.   Just look at Sagie’s smile.

Cousin Dinner Picnic

I know this looks like a cute little thing that I did for my cute little nieces and nephew, but in reality, I just wanted to feed all 6 kids, and somehow manage to keep my house clean.  But it was so fun, it might just have to become a little good weather tradition for us.   I especially love Sage and Holly’s faces….not so sure about Connor though.  I promise he was happy before and after the picture was taken.006

A few firsts

We’ve had some fun firsts in the Christensen household, and I want to make sure I get a record of them.

First day of dance class…September 9th, 2009106                                              She took it very seriously                       109

Sage is such a little ballerina, I wouldn’t be surprised if dancing were her thing in life.  She’s SO cute doing the little dances too.

First day of preschool…September 17th, 2009119

Goofy picture, I know, but it’s Jaxon, what do you expect?

Here he is with his big buddy.  He has preschool at the High School and so he get’s high school students to hang out with.  He wasn’t so sure if he liked preschool in the beginning, but he’s starting to love it more and more.  And I’m lucky enough to go in every Monday to teach music to the kids so I get to see him in his element.  I love it.

First Skyping experience….September 26th, 2009006

hehehe, here’s Heather, but really she was in the Netherlands.  It’s been fun being able to use Skype to talk with my sister on the other side of the world.  Thank goodness for the internet!

First day of Art Class…..October 2nd, 2009003

Sage and I get to spend some quality time together every Friday while Jaxon is at school at her art class.  It’s so nice to have everything all set up for her, and then not having to clean anything up when it’s over.  Now I feel no need to be crafty with my kids at home! :)  Needless to say, she LOVES it, and asks about it all week long.

In other news, we got to go to a fun pumpkin patch with fun friends today.  I loved every minute of it!

Having a girl is fun

Haircut

Now I understand why it was so hard for my mother in law to cut these luscious locks of hair.

I know, because I have my own luscious locks to tempt me.  002

Unfortunately, I succumbed, and off it came.  015

Ahhhh, but look at those eyes!

Happy summer!

007 Summer sure makes it hard to blog!  Too many fun things to do.  I’ve been busy with free lunch, trips to the beach and the gorge, free library shows, swimming, making cakes, a trip to Idaho, avoiding making dinner, berry picking, children’s museum, family photo shoots, playing and parks, farmers markets….and lots more!  Jaxon will be going to a preschool 4 days a week in September, and it will be sad to say goodbye to my last summer in Oregon.  I think I’ve made the most of it so far though.  My freezer  is packed full of berries, that’s for sure!  Here are a few pictures of our fun summer

I can’t seem to cut Jaxon’s hair this summer.  It’s way to cool (and crazy)! :)010

Farmers Market, in front of the best kettle corn EVER!092

And last but not least….image who recognizes what this is from?  Did you guess Twilight?  Jake and I headed out this this restaurant again, and got a little photo op. 101 Super cheesy I know, but how could I resist!

Happy summer to everyone!

What the 4th of July means to me....

Growing up, the 4th of July was nothing short of magical.  There was always the ward pancake breakfast, which when your 8 and all your best friends are in your ward, is pretty special.  Then it was off to the huge Provo parade, with the loud jets in the sky, and super loud cannon that passed by, and lots of covering my ears from the noise!   Next came the infamous nap.  My mom insisted on us kids taking a nap (which now that I'm a mom I totally understand....she's the one who really needed the nap!)  and I would just sit in my room, jittery with excitement for the fun that would follow.  In the evening we'd head out to our traditional spot on the Sidewalk of Fire.  Sure, you Utah folk might have only heard of the Stadium of Fire, but you see, out family was smart, and instead of paying the money to get inside the stadium, we'd just sit right outside and watch as the fireworks exploded right above our heads for free!  It was magic.  But before any of this happened, and the reason I got out of bed as early as possible on our country's Independence day was for these....047

If you were lucky, and woke up early enough, you could see the sky littered with hot air balloons.  And each year I wished I could be there as they all gently lifted off the ground.  It is a memory so vivid in my mind.

So needless to say, when I heard that there was a hot air balloon festival in Tigard, I simply had to be there.  So at the wee small hour of 4:00am, I woke my family, bundled them up, and headed out the door to fulfill a life long dream of mine.  And let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

Well, nowadays the 4th has taken on a whole new meaning thanks to my adorable little niece.  If ever there was a girl who needed fireworks on her birthday, it's Emily.  I had a blast celebrating with her this year.

The day kicked off with Heidi's annual birthday breakfast....crepes, waffles, fresh berries, and cream cheese frostings to name a few.  YUM!  Then to the birthday parade and fireworks.  We had a great turn out of neighbors watching this year which was fun.  Jake and I took the top of the jeep and decorated it, and stuck Sage in the front with a sash that said Little Miss Aloha.  Very cute.  Here's me and the birthday girl.

Heidi and I were so happy to have Heather with us this year.  She's usually off if Africa during the summer, but we got to keep her this time.038 044

For her cake Emily was very descriptive.  She wanted an American flag cake with watermelon cookies for everyone, and a Hello Kitty cookie just for her.

Who am I to say no to such a request!025 028

That was an ice cream cake, and it was delish!  048

Then we got to go to Chuck E Cheese,  which is all Emily really wanted to do for her birthday,  049

and then off to Vernonia for a "parade" and fireworks.061

Wow....that is some holiday!
