What if....

Sometimes I'll get to browsing blogs.  I'll find one about an amazing photographer, or an up and coming Broadway star, or someone who is way more fashionable than I'll ever be, and others who seem so much happier than me.  And I'll find myself wishing for something different than what I have been given in life.  I start wondering what if?  What if I had really tried to reach that goal of singing on Broadway?  What if I could dance?  What if I had a big beautiful home like so-and-so?  What if I could travel all over the world?  What if.....?

But it's not long before my feverish little boy calls for his mommy, or my sweet husband wants to show me a fly he has tied, or one of my amazing sisters calls just to chat, and immediately all those what if's melt away, and another set follows close behind....

what if I wasn't married to my husband who tells me I'm beautiful all the time, makes me laugh every day, and keeps me grounded?  What if I didn't have my two adorable children in my life? What if I couldn't hang out with my sisters and Dad at any given moment?  What if I wasn't  a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints?  What if any little piece of my life as it is was missing? What then?  And that's when I realize that I'm more than happy to leave those other lives to the people they belong to.  As for me....I'm happy right where I am! 009 (Sagie and me at the tulip festival)

You are wonderful.
What if I had the attitude you have? haha.
Most the time we get out of life what we put in and check you out! Gorgeous, awesome family, beautiful singing voice, amazing baker etc...
AND I want to take your picture. Let's work that out.

I think we all do that. I love this post! Know that we all look at your cakes and wonder what if... PS.I think too often we dont tell people what we see in them. So, I think I will add that I love your personality and think you are gorgeous!! Thanks for reminding us all how great we have it!!

Amen Sister. Often reading blogs can be risky for me-those same feelings of envy arise. Then I put things back in perspective and realize that people who have big houses and cute clothes have their own concerns and when it comes down to it-my life is great. Way to express something we all feel and help us all find the good in the lives we have.

Amazingly. Beautiful. Picture. Of both of you! Thanx for the reality check, the perspective centering, the greatful insight, or any other sufficiently descriptive superlatives. You're the best!

Hey Steph, I am glad my brother is a great husband! I think every one of us has moments of wondering what life would be like somewhere else. I am excited to see you this summer!

And sometimes I think "what if I were as beautiful as Stephanie..." Oh, wait. This is about you, not me. :)

Great post. Sometimes the grass does look a little greener somewhere else.

Oh sweetie!Did you ever read the Musing: "What You Don't Have or Have Lost?".... also, "Romance the Heart"? Both apply to what you're saying here.

Do you have any idea how many people WISH they were YOU?

Love,
Mona

I think that's the danger with blogs. Just when you think you are safe from feelings of jealousy and competition--whamo! BUT--when kept in check they are wonderful and we can learn so much from each other!

Love the tulips!

Wonderful thought. I think sometimes as a stay-at-home mom we are so focused on our big goal of taking care of children we forget about life outside of that, and when we see other doing more "exciting" things we day dream. I feel exactly the same as you. I wouldn't trade my life or what I have.

I love this. Thank you for sharing your what ifs... I have these day so often. And it is so good to remind ourselves that we all have our trial, but I wouldn't trade them for the world. :)
I love you and you are amazing.

Hi, just clicked on your blog from Stie's Thoughts and read this post. And I had to laugh b/c I saved the picture on the more recent post of beautiful green fields and I'm going to email it to my hubby and write "this is where I want to live".

Sometimes it's easy to get swept away but what seems so perfect. But you put it beautifully, it's the little things that bring us back to remind us of how blessed we are!

But I still want those fields in my back yard. They are beautiful!!

Thanks for sharing this. Beautiful. And you must realize, more often than not, you are the woman people are looking at saying "what if."
